Privately situated in the lower Catskill Mountains in Ulster County just outside of Woodstock lies 185 plus acres of land that includes a stocked 30-acre lake. Surrounded by 828 acre of NYS protected land assures that this land will be forever conserved. This beautiful setting is home for the Wittenberg Sportsmen’s Club founded in 1930.
A unique and active organization, the Wittenberg Sportsmen’s Club consists of serious yet friendly outdoor types who enjoy involving themselves in all aspects of their callings: hunting, fishing, target shooting, archery, hiking, picnicking, and most of all, preserving the quality of life for those who enjoy the out-of-doors.
The Wittenberg Sportsmen’s Club is a members-only club and is incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation under the State of New York. An elected board of directors and trustees, president, vice-president, and secretary-treasurer governs the club.
The primary purpose of the Club is to conserve and protect the fish and game of the area, conserve our waters, lands and forest, to protect our right to keep and bear arms, to sponsor and promote good sportsmanship through proficiency in marksmanship of all forms and kinds, and to advocate and instruct safety in the practice of the same.
Just miles up the road we have a completely separate parcel that is home to our clubhouse built in 1936. This rustic cabin in the woods has provided members with a gathering place for winter meetings, member and family events and many community events including game dinners, Christmas party’s, pumpkin carving night, birthday and anniversary party’s and even wedding receptions.
The Club operates through the efforts of a great number of volunteers, and all members share in the responsibility of assisting in keeping the Club clean, safe, and well maintained to assure it’s use by future generations.
